Izzard and Driver Take “The Riches” to Big Screen
Written by on November 25th, 2008

The former stars and writers move to shoot a “guerilla-style” adaptation.

Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver will reprise their roles on the cancelled FX show, The Riches, in a new movie, the BBC reports.

“We’ve had a meeting and the writers are going to go off and slam out a story,” Izzard told the BBC. “We’re going to raise money like Barack Obama through the Internet, and we’re going to shoot it guerilla-style.”

The critically acclaimed show about Wayne and Dahlia Malloy, two con artists who pose as a well-off couple, was cancelled in April after just two seasons.

Izzard says the time for a big screen adaptation couldn’t be better. “Everything’s getting tight, money’s getting tight and there’s the credit crunch – so it’s the time to go and be inventive.”

Izzard can currently be seen in the West End performing his new stand-up show, Stripped, while Driver remains occupied with her two-month-old son, Henry. She continues to keep the father’s identity a secret.

“I Still Have a Marshmallow Tummy”
Written by on November 19th, 2008

Two months after giving birth, Minnie Driver says she’s “never eaten more food in my life.”

So what’s her secret to getting her post-baby bod?

“I think the breastfeeding is what burns it off,” she told Usmagazine.com Friday at the annual Oxfam party held at Esquire House in Hollywood. “I go for one big long walk with my boy every day. I live in the hills, so it’s kind of up and down. I do some yoga, but I’m not doing a whole bunch yet. I still have a marshmallow tummy.”

She said she doesn’t need to gym.

“I’m just walking very heavy stroller with my baby. My baby weighs 15 pounds so he’s like a weight session.” she said. “Yeah, he’s going to be tall.”

The cutest thing her son has done?

“The smiling and the laughing,” she said. “When I sing, he smiles and he laughs and he sings along.”

Minnie Driver Jokes Her Son Was Too Fat for Halloween Costume
Written by on November 17th, 2008

Minnie Driver‘s son Henry was just born in September, but she’s eager for baby No. 2!

“I’d have another one,” Driver, 38, said on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday (check local listings).

Look back on Us’ baby bump hall of fame!

Driver says the urge recently began to grow.

“I think it only kicks in after you have really forgotten…I’ve only just managed to look at the pictures of the birth…they do make you kind of go…owww…,” Driver explained.

“And then I look at [Henry],” she added. “I want another one of him!”

Plus, Driver says he’s “very easy…he sleeps and smiles as far as I can make out.”

Henry Story Driver, born on Sept. 8 in L.A., weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs., 12 oz. (Driver never released the name of his father.)

“He was a pumpkin for Halloween,” Driver said. “Except it didn’t fit him because he was too big. We had to cut the feet off – he wore orange and black spider socks – but his diaper…I would hold him facing out because on the back there, there was just this huge triangle where his diaper showed because we couldn’t close it.”

DeGeneres replied: “That’s a big baby…that’s too big to be a pumpkin! That’s really the biggest costume you can buy for a baby.”

“He’s filling it,” Driver joked.

DeGeneres handed Driver a onesie in two different sizes that said: “I may be BIG but my Mom is Minnie.”

“We decided to give you a gift because we had heard he was a big baby,” DeGeneres said.

Minnie and Mischa bring mini drama to vintage photo expo
Written by on October 22nd, 2008

The Riches actress Minnie Driver has clearly wasted no time getting back into shape after welcoming her son Henry in September. Stepping out in Los Angeles for a special exhibition of photographs on Tuesday night, the new mum looked radiant in a short black dress that showed off her enviable post-pregnancy figure.

The London-born star wasn’t the only famous face to have picked out a pretty number for the Vanity Fair Portraits event. London-born actress Mischa Barton arrived for the bash in an eye-catching layered, white-feathered affair, teamed with a silver clutch and heels.

Also opting for white was Joan Collins. The screen veteran, who was accompanied by her husband Percy Gibson, had picked a simple shift topped by a sequinned jacket for the event at the Los Angeles Museum of Art.

The exhibition, which includes 130 vintage prints and photographs dating from 1913 to 2008, features images of contemporary Hollywood stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Helen Mirren and Julia Roberts, alongside classic screen sirens from the past like Greta Garbo.

Driver earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of Dahlia Malloy on the show.

New mum Minnie Driver shows off her slimline figure
Written by on October 3rd, 2008

Looking svelte in a skintight workout outfit, it is hard to believe Minnie Driver gave birth just a few weeks ago.

After sporting an enormous baby bump during her pregnancy the 38-year-old actress seems to have zipped back into shape in an amazingly short period of time.

The new mum showed off her slimline figure in a black vest and leggings as she chatted on the phone outside her house in Los Angeles.

Motherhood obviously suits the Hollywood star who looked happy and relaxed as she chatted and laughed on her mobile phone.

Motherhood becomes her: Minnie looks in good spirits as she chats on the phone

Her son Henry Story Driver was born in Los Angeles on September 5th weighing a healthy 9lbs and 12oz.

The actress has refused to name the baby’s father since announcing her pregnancy in March and has admitted she wasn’t sure if she would stay with him after the birth.

In May, Minnie denied reports Californian musician Craig Zolezzi was the father of her unborn child.

She told the New York Post: ‘I’m not married and I don’t know if I’ll stay with the guy.

‘It’s great to be an independent creature. Today you don’t need a man any more.

‘In the old days, if you had a baby without marriage, people would put you out. I’m very into feeling this female thing.’

She continued: ‘I want to shield the baby’s dad as much as I can because it wasn’t his choice to get roped into all this stuff.

‘It’ll come out in time. There’ll be some other bump people will be interested in and I’ll have this baby and get on with my life.’

The star’s bump bloomed to an enormous size during her pregnancy and she showed off her rounded tummy in a bikini as she took a dip in the sea at Malibu Beach in August.

Announcing her pregnancy earlier this year, she said: ‘Most of the women in my family get super girthy early on and I’ve got to say that’s why I have this nice chiffon dress on. I’m fat.’

WANNABE MUMS DO IT LIKE MINNIE DRIVER
Written by on September 16th, 2008

ACTRESS Minnie Driver, 38, appears to have started a trend when she chose to go it alone and bring up her son as a single mum.

A survey of attitudes to conception found that more than half of women would consider asking a male friend to father their child if they fail to find “the one” by a certain age.

Minnie, who gave birth to son Henry Story this month, kept the father’s identity a secret and confessed she has no plans to marry the mystery man.

The study found that women aged between 28 and 31 were the most likely to consider asking a male friend to “do the honours”. Half of single females said they thought about meeting the right partner on a daily basis.

Many admitted they would consider settling for second best if their search was fruitless.

Celebrity psychologist Linda Papadopou-los commented: “No longer do we see mum, dad and 2.4 children as the only ideal.

“Same-sex families and single parents are much more common these days.”

Minnie Driver became a first-time mom to son Henry Story Driver, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.

The baby was born Friday in Los Angeles and weighed 9 lbs., 12 oz., rep Jessica Kolstad says.

Driver, 38, who has not revealed the identity of the father, told PEOPLE in June that the dad will be involved in the baby’s life.

“He’s going to be a dad so yeah he’s going to be there for the kid,” she said. “I’m not getting married to this person and I don’t know what’s going to happen but everyone is cool about the situation.”

As the new mom takes on her most important role yet, Driver says she is looking forward to simply observing and spending time with her child. “Babies are endlessly fascinating to look at and I’m obsessed about their complete and utter lack of guile. I’m looking forward to seeing life through the eyes of my own kid.”

She also says she plans on spending lots of time hanging out at the beach with her child. “I love the ocean and this baby will probably be surfing and swimming before it can walk.”
